Where is our food?

Hmmmmm - let me think about this one...
If your food was ready, I would have brought it out. If I am too busy to bring it out, someone I work with will bring it out.
Believe it or not, I don't cook the food. I have no control over how long it takes.

I actually had a customer ask me how much longer her food would be. I gave my usual response. "Not too much longer." And she responded by saying - "5 minutes? 10 minutes? HOW much longer."
Well, Honey, if I knew the answer to that one, I would have bought lottery tickets with winning numbers yesterday! I can not predict the future. (In case you were wondering, I quoted 10 minutes, and the food came out in less than 5.)

And I know where your food is. - It's in the kitchen.

Waitresses have a hard time sometimes, I know, though I've never waited on tables. Nice touches of comedy in your posts, though!

"Believe it or not, I don't cook the food. I have no control over how long it takes."

You just CONTRADICTED YOUR OWN BLOGS:

http://waitress-stories.blogspot.com/2007/05/why-your-food-might-be-late.html

"1. I forget to send the order to the kitchen. - Least likely possibility, but most often assumed as the problem.

2. I forgot about you. Hmmmm - probably not likely since I am depending on you to help me pay my mortgage this month."

You also forgot things like bussing a table or voluntarily(meaning the customers didn't call you over)went to another table to ask something instead of going to put the order into the computer IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOU TOOK THE ORDER unless obviously someone else's food or drink is ready that ordered BEFORE I DID. Also, not putting the order incorrectly. Like pressing baby back ribs button instead of a burger just as what happened to me and my husband at Applebee's. Also, if my server is playing around instead of doing their job, so my food just SITS at the window READY to be taken to me, but no one takes it to me for 5 minutes or longer.

So YOU DO HAVE ***SOME*** CONTROL IN HOW LONG THE FOOD GETS TO ME. You just caught yourself in a LIE in your own blogs. That's TRULY TAKES THE CAKE. You have no control over how long the food takes if you put in the order IMMEDIATELY AFTER taking it(obviously as long as no one else's order is ready that ordered BEFORE me) and bring it to me as soon as you can unless someone else's order is ready that ordered before me or that someone else's food has a mistake that ordered BEFORE me. You contradicted your own blogs.

Hmmm - I lied?

Not exactly - If you read the first quote carefully it says

"1. I forget to send the order to the kitchen. - Least likely possibility, but most often assumed as the problem."

"LEAST LIKELY POSSIBILITY"

I don't forget to send the orders to the kitchen. I included this because is is the most common assumption by customers.

I am sorry that you had such a bad experience at Applebee's, but I can assure you, I was not your waitress.

I was just reading your post, and it reminded me of my BIGGEST pet peeve as a waitress. I hate when I come to a table with there food, ready to serve. Hands completely full and someone says "Um, where is my ____?" Sorry, I can only carry so much at a time, don't worry, you will get it.
